Remigiushof, Duiven

Remigiushof is a concept new center of the city of Duiven. It  is in fact a projection of the Remigius Church. The oldest and most characteristic building of Duiven.

The pillars of the church have been replaced in the plan by a tree; Prunus Kanzan, a Japanese ornamental cherry wearing a gorgeous pink blossoms. this creates at the end of the spring an intense pink carpet for a short period of time. A magical moment.

Between the trees there’s a 50 meter long sofa swinging that functions the same in use as a church pew. Shuffling and social contact are important here. The stoup is replaced by a Join the Pipe; a public drinking place where part of the profits will be invested in an identical public water hole in a developing country.

At the heart of the lineup is a circular bench with a mouthpiece. This allows you to talk and listen to the people using the swinging sofa.
